Ce adevarat... Am avut un HDD SCSI 15kRPM (4ms latenta) pe un controler Adaptec 29160. In teste era un pic mai rapid decat cel SATA, dar nu am crezut ca are important atat de mare pana nu l-am vandut si am reistalat Win pe ala SATA. Mare diferenta - la bootare, la lansarea aplicatiilor...
Probabil ca asa sta treaba si cu SSD-urile astea. Despre cipurile JMicron am aflat ma prima mana cat de inselatoare sunt - am avut un RAID bazate pe cipul lor si sucked comparativ cu unul bazat pe Intel sau chiar ITE.

Ce adevarat... Am avut un HDD SCSI 15kRPM (4ms latenta) pe un controler Adaptec 29160.

Pana la urma timpul de acces si viteza de scriere citire aleatoare a bucatelelor mici de date sunt cheia ca SO/aplicatiile sa raspunda (aproape) instantaneu la comenzi. Faptul ca SSD/HDD poate citi secvential date la viteze "naucitoare" nu prea impresioneaza SO-ul.

Poate ca m-ar fi tentat un SSD, dar dupa ce am citit acel articol, de JMicron nu m-as atinge, iar celelalte au preturi mult prea prohibitive.

Da, sunt inca scumpe. La ora actuala sunt cateva variante acceptabile ca performante, dar pretul nu este inca acolo.
Sunt tentat de Intel X25-V la 40GB si 130$ sau OCZ Vertex Series la 30GB si 105$ (cu rebate)... Dar stiu ca 30GB nu este suficient pentru mine.
